GENERAL INTRODUCTION
Pashto is one of the national languages of Afghanistan (Dari is the other), and the home language of Pushtuns living in the Northwest Frontier Province of Pakistan, and many Pushtuns living in Baluchistan (Iran and Pakistan). Major Pashto speaking cities in Afghanistan are Kandahar (Qandahar), Kabul; and Peshawar in Pakistan. There are 15 million speakers of Pashto in Afghanistan (50% of the population) and almost 9 million in Pakistan (13% of the population).

An introduction to
Afghan Community Services Center
Since 1995, the ACSC a Not-for-Profit Organization in Flushing, NY has served as a platform for the Afghan community to engage in Language/Immigration services, Outreach, Social and Cultural initiatives. Every year ACSC seeks to bring members of the community closer together with a variety of cultural programs, sporting events, concerts, lectures and various other social activities thereby allowing the community members to develop bonds that will last long and provide an opportunity for the children of the communities to learn new things.
ACSC was founded in September of 1995 and has initiated array of cultural programs throughout the years including, organizing the historic signature event the Afghanistan Independence Day Festival in 1996 in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, New York, for the first time, followed by the Nowruz Event in March 22, 2003.
